So Sunday I went to prayer mountain, it was right after church service.
It took around 1.5 hours to get up there and 2 hours back thanks to traffic. So people say that u have to visit the mountain at least once, at first I thought it would be with little holes small enough for one person and they would pray inside there for a while, however it was quite different to what I had expected.
The mountain has many buildings and many motels to stay at.
The weather was nice that day too.
One of the small chapels, maybe 100 of us were in here and prayed for like 2 hours. Honestly it was a really great experience, I didn't even realise we were there for that long.
That lady is probably holding kimbab (like sushi) cos we had some on the bus and it was extremely yummy! =D
Nice scenery with chairs to relax around.
I was told by a theology student from Cameroon that he had to stay at prayer mountain for the first 12 days he got to Korea and every semester before the it starts they have to spend 3 days here fasting and praying.
The walk led us to the grottoes, little prayer rooms where yo take your shoes off before you enter and you can pray. There is no time limit to how long you stay in there, my friend says that you stay until your prayers are answered or you feel like God has answered you.
She loves the fact that these rooms have been soaked with prayers and that you can feel it as you enter the room.
We didn't have much time before the bus came, but I plan to go back there and try it out.
This walkway led to one of the larger chapels, there was one that was about 4 times the size but it was closed the day I went. The Cameroon student told me it's never closed...I blame myself for being so lucky...lol
These are the two friends, the one on the right is actually a mother of two whose daughters both go to school in Australia, one goes to Melbourne :D she's malaysian and studying dentistry...how surprising..LOLLLLL! but she was really nice and awesome!
This was inside the chapel, we wonder why there really had to be that massive drum banging away, but I'm sure they had some reason. =P
They also have a cemetery at the mountain, it was really pretty actually and stretched for a while down a hill. If I had more time maybe I will have a stroll around.
All in all it was a good experience, and considering I was sick in the morning, it turned out to be a swell day, got some zz's on the bus too. =D
That sounds awesome. :) I am so catching up on your blogs. Oh yeah! :D
ReplyDeleteI know this is old but I enjoyed this. I appreciate the passion for prayer among the Korean saints.
